Family Life in Two Cultures
Many of people in this world have families from different countries
or cultures. The difference is in the culture shock cause where people in the
family feel different and sometimes difficult to accept it. Many things can
make cultural differences in the family such as religion, customs, food, etc.
Maybe only a few people in this world can accept the difference. It can all be
really confusing, but at the end of the day it’s the fact that you are family that
counts. That sense of belonging and mutual helps vital for survival country
where educational opportunities are poor and health care not even a lottery. Being
part of a family in two cultures has benefit which you can get new cultures in
your family and learn about peace. Many of Arabian people marry with Indian
people because of some reason including about love and relationship. Many of
Indian people come to Saudi Arabia, Dubai, etc. then they will find partner
there and marry with Arabian people. One way to know family life in two
cultures between Arabian and Indian is to compare and contrast them on point.
India is a country located in south Asia, while Arab in west Asia. The
region between them is not far. That why India still got some influences of
Islam and may bring some similarities between them that cause territories
expansion in spreading Islam. If you find Indian or Arabian you will be
confused to guess the nationality because they are having similarity about
language, food and culture (those are special that make them become popular).
The expansion brings some similarities as the result. Long centuries
ago, India had a big empire name Mughal Empire which was an example of
expansion from Turkish people who got power in Abbasiyah dynasty in Egypt. Some
words in Hindi and Arabic are same speaking but different in writing because Hindi
uses Sanskrit while Arabic Hijayah. The words those similar are “Syukria” in Hindi and “Syukron” in Arabic, both
of them means thanks. In Arabic call god is Rab same as like Indian when call
god.
First is a similarity between Arabian and Indian. They both have
same food for some events. In foods, menu also brings some similarity such as samosa
that serves as a dessert; Chane bread like a bake bread in circle shapes
but make it in a traditional fireplace. Biryani rice is a main course
that has a yellow rice in Arab it combined with lamb meat but in Indian do not
eat meat because the Hindus rules. In Islamic, they can eat anything including
meat. Both of them have a full seasoning for biryani rice that makes it
delicious. In Arabian and Indian eats spicy food in taste.
In culture they have similarity such as wedding party. They like to
have a luxurious and glamorous party and the bride’s hand must be full of
henna. The family of bread does not need to pay someone to decorate it because
they can make it by themselves. In celebrating they like to have a dance
together even man or women, they like to have a dance together. In Arabian they
dance with female families only because Arab is dominated by Islam and the
rules keep them secret. Meanwhile Indian they get free for dancing such as in Bollywood
movie they can dance with boys and the music is similar. Some Arabian loves
Bollywood.
The differences between Arab and India people are many. The majority
of Arab people live in the Middle East (Western Asia) and North Africa, while
the majority of India people live in India, which is located in South Asia. Unrated
language families. India and Arab has differences such as education, holiday, and
religion. This is hard for someone who has family in two cultures because these
differences can make culture shock for that people. Maybe some of people in
this world hard to find differences between Arab and India because they are have
some face and cultures.
However most of Indian people follow one of the four major world
religions that were formed in India: Muslims, Hinduism, Sikhism, etc. In Arab
world, Islam is predominant and many countries have Islam as the official
religion. In India born out of Brahmanism, is believed to be the oldest
religion. In India people still believe with hierarchy which is people who comes
from lower family can’t married with high family. In India, girl must pay boy
when they want to marry, but this different with Arabian people. In Arab all
the same, there is no hierarchy. People in the Middle East will marry in Islam
way. Although in India has presence for getting married or other activity, In
Arab there is no presence.
Talking about the holiday in these cultures is difference. As u knows,
Arabic still keeps Islam way so Arabian people gets holiday from Islamic
celebration. Consuming food or abstaining from eating (fasting) play a
significant part in the holiday celebration of Arab and Indian people. The two
major Islamic holidays celebrated by many Arabs are Eid Al – Fitr and Eid Al –
Adha; however, there are several more, including Ramadan. During this holiday,
Muslims pray, sacrifice an animal and feast with family and friends. A portion
is also set aside to feed the needy, charity being an aspect of this holiday,
as well. Even though Arabian people has holiday in Islam way, India has many
holiday in Islam way or Hinduism way. In India before Ramadan, wife gives duaa
for her husband in front of moon. Many Indian people celebrate Holi Day for
have fun and other celebration is Diwali which for peace in relationship from
baghwan.
Education is very important in a family. It is the education that
determines the future of the family. In a family that comes from two different
cultures is very different. According to Arab culture, education is not
important in living a life, especially family. According to the Arabs
themselves, especially for Arab women should they no longer need to learn
because Arabs think that women are only at home to take care of it? Even though
in Arabic education is less, in India where education is number one and is
their future in finding a job. Many of Indians are looking for jobs to other
countries like America. The principle of the Indians themselves is how they can
become successful with their own hard work. That difference makes India
superior in education.
Living in a family which has two cultures isn’t easy because of many
reasons of that. Living in Arabian family is better than Indian family. Living in
Arabian family is better because of they still keeps Islam way to celebrate
anything. Although India and Arabian has the taste of food, in India we can’t
eat kind of meat much because of the culture. In Arabian we can marry with
anyone without see presence or without waiting girl gives money to the boy. In Arabian
family you can feel peace in family because of they still humble with other
people. Even though an Arabian person has less education, but they still has
good thinking and can handle trade. So, living in two cultures can be easy if
you accept it with your heart and enjoy your life with your family.
